The government has established a monitoring board for the National Plan for Music Education (NPME).

The board will oversee the implementation of the government’s refreshed plan, which was published last year, through keeping track of progress on delivering commitments and establishing an impact framework. 

Chairing the board is VERONICA WADLEY CBE (Baroness Fleet), who formerly chaired the panel for the NPME and the model music curriculum. She is a Council Member of Royal College of Music, Co-founder and Chair of the London Music Fund and National Council Member for Arts Council England. 

The new membership includes Chief Executive of UK Music and Member for Arts Council England JAMIE NJOKU-GOODWIN and CEO of the UK Association for Music Education, Music Mark, BRIDGET WHYTE

Alongside them are President of Music Teachers’ Association CATHERINE BARKER, Head of Bolton Music Service CAROLYN BAXENDALE, Chief Executive Officer of The Wings’ CE Trust RACHAEL COULTHARD, Chief Executive Officer of The Arthur Terry Learning Partnership RICHARD GILL and Director of Insights at Ambition Institute ANNE HEAVEY.

Also joining the board are Group Chief Quality Officer and Safeguarding Lead for Busy Bees Nurseries Ltd GILL JONES, Executive Director of Music for David Ross Education Trust SIMON TOYNE, Director of Music for West London Free School ED WATKINS and Executive Inclusion Officer at Our Community Multi-Academy Trust CASSIE YOUNG

HANNAH FOURACRE, Director for Music Education for Arts Council England and CHRISTOPHER STEVENS, Subject Lead for Music for Ofsted, will stand as observers.
