The founder and creative director of British fashion house ERDEM has been named as one of three new board members for the British Museum.

ERDEM MORALIOGLU MBE, ALISON JONES and MENEESHA KELLAY were all appointed for four-year terms by Prime Minister KEIR STARMER.

A graduate from London’s Royal College of Art in 2003, Moralioglu debuted his first womenswear collection in 2005, and in 2020 was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List for his contribution to the fashion industry.

Moralioglu’s pieces have been exhibited at galleries including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the V&A and the Louvre Museum. Last year, he opened an exhibition at Chatsworth dedicated to the process of creating his Spring/Summer 2024 collection.

Kellay is a curator, cultural leader and 2024 Clore Leadership Fellow working across art, architecture, design, and performance. Currently, the lead curator is developing a South Asia-focused exhibition for V&A East, set to open in 2027. Kellay was previously the senior curator of contemporary art at the V&A South Kensington.

As a lawyer in the charity and not-for-profit sector, Jones leads Muckle LLP’s arts, culture and heritage practice, having previously worked at Hill Dickinson LLP, Womble Bond Dickinson LLP, Slaughter and May, and the multinational technology company Sage.

She has contributed to several working parties of the Charity Law Association and also served on several not-for-profit boards, including the board of Newcastle Theatre Royal, as well as sitting on the Charity Commission’s panel of interim managers.
