Creative Access leader to support illustrators ‘at every stage’ in new role at trade body
Creative Access co-founder JOSIE DOBRIN is to head up the board at the Association of Illustrators (AOI).
Dobrin, who received an OBE in December 2023 for services to the creative industries, is to help lead the trade association following the resignation of ex-chair DAVID GILBERT.
In 2012, Dobrin helped to set up diversity organisation Creative Access, where she remains executive chair.
Formerly a press advisor to the Mayor of London, she has experience in school governance and in the role of a charitable trustee, and will turn her expertise to the AOI in its 52nd year in existence.
Dobrin said it was an “honour and a privilege” to join the organisation, adding: “AOI has long championed the incredible talent within the UK and beyond, and it’s a privilege to be able to work with Rachel and her excellent team.
“As chair, I’m eager to support illustrators at every stage of their careers, amplify diverse voices, and ensure that the industry continues to thrive in a rapidly changing creative landscape. This is a moment to celebrate illustration’s impact while building a strong, inclusive future together, and I’m thrilled to help lead that journey.”
RACHEL HILL, chief executive of the AOI, said Dobrin’s “passion for equity” and “extensive” experience in the commercial and charitable sectors would prove “invaluable”.
