JAMES LAMBERT has been reappointed as trustee to the National Gallery by the Prime Minister, Sir KEIR STARMER.

Lambert, who is the gallery’s business trustee, joined the board in 2021 and will start a new four-year term on 23 December.

A real estate and retail investor, Lambert is a founding shareholder and deputy chair of the Bicester Collection, which developed and operates the shopping destination Bicester Village and 11 further retail villages in Europe, China and the US.

Across its sites, the group estimates it welcomed more than 46 million visitors in 2024, including 6.7m at Bicester Village, which claims to have the highest sales densities of any shopping destination in the world.

Previously an art dealer at Colnaghi, where he served as a director and head of the Old Masters department, Lambert is also a non-executive director at Castle Howard, and a founding trustee and former chair of charity IntoUniversity.

He was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in the 2020 New Year’s Honours List in recognition of his services to social mobility in education.
