RALPH KENNEDY has been appointed Director of Without Walls, an outdoor arts organisation.

Without Walls has partnerships with over 35 organisations and festivals across the UK. Established in 2007, the company was formerly under the management of Manchester-based arts development organisation XTRAX, where Kennedy stood as Associate Director.

It is now set to become an independent company, with Kennedy taking over leadership in April.

Chair JO BURNS said Kennedy has “valuable leadership experience in both cultural and social sector organisations” and is “delighted” to welcome him to the role.

Kennedy also commented: “Outdoor arts is uniquely placed to provide cultural experiences to people and communities of all backgrounds, without the barriers which often exclude people from traditional arts institutions and organisations.

“It has a vital role to play as the country works its way back from the Covid-19 pandemic and reconfigures how and why we connect with each other and the places where we live.”
