ANDREW WATHEY has been reappointed chair of the National Archives.

His new five-year term as chair of the executive board, which consists of the archives’ chief executive and keeper, eight executive directors and four further non-executive board members, will begin on 1 April.

Wathey was vice-chancellor and chief executive of Northumbria University between 2008 and 2022 and previously senior vice-president and professor of music history at Royal Holloway University of London.

He was appointed a CBE in 2016 for services to higher education.

Last year, the National Archives extended an ongoing partnership with Arts Council England for a further three years.
