Saumarez Smith to step down at Royal Academy

CHARLES SAUMAREZ SMITH, Secretary and Chief Executive of the Royal Academy of Arts and former Director of the National Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery, is stepping down after 11 years to join Blain|Southern as Senior Director of the gallery. Founded in 2010, the gallery occupies two gallery spaces in London and Berlin where it presents an artist-led exhibition programme featuring new work by contemporary artists as well as significant 20th Century artists and art historical movements.
