REBECCA LYONS has been appointed director of Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery in Ealing, London.

She will take up her new position on 1 September. Lyons is currently director of collections, library, archive, learning and public programmes at the Royal Academy of Arts, a role she has had since 2019.

She is an experienced lecturer, writer and researcher in art history and the history of collecting, and has worked as director of royal collection studies at the educational charity The Attingham Trust.

Lyons has also been a curator for The National Trust and had positions at The National Gallery in London and Christie’s auction house.

HOWELL JAMES, chair of the board, said: “Rebecca’s passion for the arts, vision for cultural engagement, deep involvement in arts, heritage and senior leadership experience make her ideally placed to guide Pitzhanger into its next chapter.

“The board and the entire Pitzhanger team look forward to working with Rebecca as we continue to build on our successes and reach new heights in delivering bold exhibitions, deepening community connections, and celebrating the unique and lasting legacy of Sir John Soane.”

Lyons added that she was “thrilled and honoured” to take her new position at the manor and gallery “with its extraordinary blend of historic and architectural interest, high-quality contemporary exhibitions and committed learning and community programming, all in a beautiful setting”.
