Paul Hamlyn Foundation leader steps down after 23 years
The chair of a major arts grant-maker will cede her role heading up trustees this month.
JANE HAMLYN, daughter of the man for whom Paul Hamlyn Foundation (PHF) is named, will continue involvement as a trustee but surrender her leading position on the board, which she took up in 2002.
Trustee JAMES LINGWOOD is to succeed her as chair.
In Hamlyn’s time, PHF has expanded its activities with the creation of its annual Awards for Artists programme and its Ideas and Pioneers fund, which invites young people based in the UK to share their plans for social change.
Hamlyn’s tenure has also overseen the award of grants to organisations ranging from Britten Pears Arts and Liverpool Philharmonic, to Tate, the Royal Shakespeare Company, and National Museum Wales.
In 2019, she received a CBE for her work.
“I am enormously proud of everything we have achieved together,” Hamlyn said, promising to remain “closely involved” with the foundation as a trustee.
HALIMA KHAN, chief executive of PHF, said: “We extend our deepest thanks to Jane for her exceptional leadership, commitment, and service to the foundation.”
Khan added: “We are delighted that Jane will remain a trustee on the board as we continue to build on this vital legacy in the years to come.”
