BBC director of music Lorna Clarke is joining the board of Help Musicians
New trustees at Help Musicians and Music Minds Matter
Music charity Help Musicians has appointed two new trustees.
BBC director of music LORNA CLARKE and UK Music CEO STEPHANIE HAUGHTON-CAMPBELL are joining the board of trustees after being voted in at the charity’s AGM.
Meanwhile, Music Minds Matter, a mental health platform created by Help Musicians, has appointed Deviate Digital CEO SAMMY ANDREWS as a trustee of its board.
A statement from Help Musicians says the trio are joining their respective boards at a time when support for the lives of working musicians is more important than ever, following 5,000 mental health support cases delivered through 2024.
The company adds that it delivered over 17,000 individual interventions last year to support the lives, well-being and careers of musicians across the UK
SARAH WOODS, chief executive of both Help Musicians and Music Minds Matter, said the new appointments “will bring new perspectives to how we can work upstream to reduce the likelihood of work or careers lost to issues of poor physical and mental health”.
“Everyone in music deserves the chance to thrive in a safe, supportive environment, and I’m proud to be joining an organisation so deeply committed to making that possible,” Andrews added.
