Music industry executive CLIFF FLUET has been appointed Chair of Music Minds Matter, with GRACE MEADOWS also joining as head of the mental health charity.

Fluet, the current Vice-Chair of Help Musicians, which first established the organisation, takes over from SILVIA MONTELLO, who led Music Minds Matter to become a fully operating charity.

The appointments coincide with the charity's establishment of a new partnership with BBC Radio 6 Music to grow awareness of mental health across the wider music sector.

SARAH WOODS, Chief Executive of Help Musicians and Music Minds Matter, said: “In recent years, Music Minds Matter has grown its breadth of mental health services to meet the scale of need across the music ecosystem.

"This includes augmenting our support offer to help prevent crises in future and proactively collaborating across the industry to ensure the right support is delivered at the right time. With renewed leadership from Cliff, the support of Grace and through valuable awareness partnerships such as this with 6 Music, we can reach more people working in music and grow our charitable impact to make even more of a difference.”

Speaking of his appointment, Fluet said: "Having observed its evolution from a campaign to helpline and now to a full-blown charity in my role at Help Musicians, I am excited to work with Sarah, Grace and our amazing Board of Trustees who represent the spectrum of recorded music, collective management organisations, live/touring, events, online aggregators, digital service providers and talent to provide this much-needed support, advocacy and assistance not only to musicians but all those working in the music ecosystem.

"We have ambitious plans to partner with the entire industry at this time of great need, and you’ll be hearing even more from us very soon.”

Meadows, former Campaign Director at Music for Dementia and music therapist, said: “Knowing the scale of need but also the change we want to make across the industry to help make it a beacon for positive mental health makes this a really exciting time to be joining Music Minds Matter."
