NANCY MEDINA has been named as Bristol Old Vic’s next artistic director.

She will take over from TOM MORRIS in spring 2023, when he steps down after 12 years. Medina will also serve as joint Chief Executive alongside CHARLOTTE GEEVES.

Medina is currently co-artistic director of Bristol School of Acting and is a visiting acting tutor at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, where she studied.

She is a recipient of the Peter Hall bursary at the National Theatre and a Genesis Future Director award and will direct The Darkest Part of the Night at London’s Kiln Theatre in July.

Medina says she feels a “great sense of awe and excitement” to be joining the Bristol theatre.

“I feel gratitude to be joining the amazing team at Bristol Old Vic and to further the outstanding work that Tom and Charlotte have initiated for excellence in creativity, innovation, artist development and engagement with the wider city of Bristol.”
