Chief Executive JANET ARCHER has left Creative Scotland after five years in post. Archer’s former deputy IAIN MUNRO will assume leadership of the organisation as Acting Chief Executive and Accountable Officer until a successor is found. Munro served a previous six-month stint heading the organisation in 2013, before Archer was appointed.

Archer’s departure follows a crisis-ridden six months for Creative Scotland. Its announcement of regular funding decisions in January was widely criticised, and planned cuts for five organisations were later overturned. Archer admitted that Creative Scotland’s reputation had been “severely damaged”, and its management was slammed by a parliamentary inquiry. Last week Scotland’s audience development agency announced its closure, blaming the national funder’s cuts for the decision.
