Powys based charity Impelo has announced the appointment of JEMMA THOMAS as its new Artistic Director and joint CEO.

The organisation partners with people working in health, social care, education and the arts to offer participatory dance in the rural community.

Thomas brings a wealth of experience as a practitioner, facilitator, performer, programmer and choreographer to her new role, operating from the Dance Centre in Llandrindod Wells. She took classes at the dance centre growing up and for the past six years has been Impelo’s Programme Co-Ordinator, developing the charity’s work in creative learning, dance and health.

“I am so ready to change the world through dance, keeping our participants at the forefront of all we do,” she said.

“I want them to always be reflected in all areas of our work and I want to root Impelo firmly in Powys so we can grow in strength with the help of our communities. I owe it to the kid in me who grew up here, to create positive pathways through the arts for our young people and will be blazingly passionate in doing so.”
