EMILY GOTTLIEB will depart from National Opera Studio (NOS) in March to become Executive Director at Longborough Festival Opera (LFO).

Gottlieb has led NOS for nine years, following 15 years with Royal Opera House.

At LFO, she will succeed JENNIFER SMITH, who stood down in late autumn after nine years at the helm.

Gottlieb has worked with opera companies internationally, including Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Grange Park Opera and Opera Australia. She is a Founding Director of Opera UK.

NOS' Chair, NICHOLAS ALLAN, said: "[Gottlieb] has expanded our mission, kept us in the coveted ACE National Portfolio, considerably raised our international profile and left behind a resilient organisation that seeks to achieve excellence while remaining caring and supportive. I will miss her clarity of vision and collegiate spirit.”

Gottlieb commented: “I shall look back at my time at the National Opera Studio with enormous gratitude and pride.

"I am immensely proud of what we have collectively achieved and leave a generous and talented team who have the ethos of adaptability, curiosity and drive that is the hallmark of the Studio."
