NICKY CREED, executive director of Garsington Opera, is stepping down after 25 years at the helm of the opera company.

Creed became executive director in 2013 after 14 years as associate director.

Before joining Garsington Opera, Creed produced classical music festivals in Exeter, York, Salisbury and Chichester and spent ten years with the National Trust overseeing large-scale events and membership in the south. She also worked with the Historic Houses Association for three years.

Earlier this year, she was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant of Oxfordshire, supporting the Lord Lieutenant in their public duties with a particular focus in arts and education.

“Nicky has been instrumental in shaping Garsington’s vision and ethos, fostering a culture of excellence whilst leading the company with wisdom, integrity and charm,” a spokesperson for the opera said. “She leaves Garsington Opera in robust shape.”

Leading the company alongside artistic director DOUGLAS BOYD, Creed plans to stay in post until a successor is appointed.
