JESSICA BRADFORD has been appointed Head of Collections and Principal Curator at The Science Museum, commencing in November.

She will replace DR TILLY BLYTH, who began to work with the Science Museum 20 years ago. Blyth will assume a new position at Leicester University, as Professor and Head of the School of Museum Studies.

Blyth will also become a Senior Research Associate at the Science Museum.

Bradford has spent nearly twelve years with the Science Museum Group, working across collections, learning and exhibitions and contributing to various projects. She is currently Keeper of Collections Engagement, enabling access to both physical and digital stored collections.

Over the past six years, she has contributed to the Group-wide One Collection programme. Her new role will continue this, offering strategic input as a member of the One Collection Board. Bradford will also continue leadership of the Science Museum's Curators of Tomorrow scheme which is welcoming three new curatorial trainees.

Science Museum Deputy Director, DR JULIA KNIGHTS, commented: “Jessica brings a compelling and inclusive vision to this role centred around audiences, understanding what resonates with visitors and looking critically at how we need to evolve our practice to connect with people who aren’t yet drawn to our spaces”.

Bradford said she can’t wait to get started.

“The opportunity to lead our talented curatorial team as we share the astonishing stories embedded in our collection is a life’s dream realised. I can’t wait to get started,” she added.
