BBC Singers names next chief conductor
OWAIN PARK has been appointed as the BBC Singers’ new chief conductor and will start his new role in autumn 2026.
Current chief conductor SOFI JEANNIN, who has led the singing group since 2018, will continue in the role for the rest of the 2025/26 season.
Park has been the principal guest conductor of the BBC Singers since 2022 and made his BBC Proms debut with the group last year.
In October 2024, he led the singers as part of their Centenary Concert at the Barbican.
He said it is “both a dream and an honour” to step into the role, since “with their rich history and spirit of innovation, the Singers represent so much of what excites me about music-making”.
BBC Singers director JONATHAN MANNERS is “thrilled” to have Park joining the group, and said he is “perfectly placed to continue the remarkable work of Sofi Jeannin”.
