Alexander Armstrong and Dr Hannah French
Alexander Armstrong and Dr Hannah French

Royal Philharmonic Society Council has welcomed Dr HANNAH FRENCH and ALEXANDER ARMSTRONG as new members.

Presenter of BBC Radio 3’s The Early Music Show and other broadcasts, French is known for her writing, talks and lectures on classical music. She taught at educational institutions, including the Royal Academy of Music, serves on the Advisory Board for Haringey Young Musicians and is honorary president of the Yorkshire-based Leodis Consort.

Armstrong has been a presenter on Classic FM since 2014. As a performer and actor, he hosts TV’s Pointless and was a co-star of Armstrong and Miller. A classically trained bass-baritone singer, Armstrong is an ambassador for Cathedral Music Trust.

French and Armstrong, both RPS members, have been invited by the organisation’s Trustees to join the council, which provides insights to help the organisation fulfil its charitable goals. Members will vote whether to advance the pair to a three-year term at RPs’s next AGM.
