Encompassing over 35,000 square feet, with two floors given over to exhibitions and two floors for artists? work, Newcastle?s Biscuit Factory describes itself as Europe?s biggest marketplace for original art which ?continuously strives to break down the barriers between artist and customer.?

Around 30 artists occupy the gallery?s studios, all at different stages in their careers and working in a wide range of disciplines. The public has access to the studio levels, and to individual studios if invited by the artists, who are encouraged to organise open studio weekends. The building incorporates a café, meeting rooms and professional framers; the gallery also offers a portrait service, wedding lists and a team of creative shoppers to provide purchasing advice. Staff can guide potential buyers through the process of commissioning, and will even do home visits to help buyers selection artworks for a specific space in their interior design schemes at home or in the workplace. A refund policy operates to enable buyers to try the work out at home for a few days and return it, or alternatively it is possible to hire work for flexible periods.
