Cork Sculpture unveiled at the Eden Project

The world?s largest cork sculpture has been unveiled at the Eden Project in Cornwall.
Created by artist Robert Bradford for the RSPB, the sculpture of a Spanish imperial eagle is made from some of the 350,000 wine corks collected by RSPB supporters. At 8 metres high with a 12 metre wingspan, the eagle is the size of double-decker bus. The specially-commissioned work is part of a consumer campaign by the RSPB to raise awareness of the threat posed to the cork oak forests of Portugal and Spain by the increasing use of plastic stoppers and screw caps in wine bottles. The Spanish imperial eagle depends on cork oak forests for its survival, and there are now only 130 pairs left.
