Artsdepot, a major new arts centre, is to be built in London?s North Finchley as a catalyst for the revitalisation of the town centre. The centre will provide a new home for three existing cultural providers: the Bull Arts Centre, which will relocate from High Barnet, Community Focus Disability Arts and the Performing and Public Art courses at Barnet College. It will be the cultural and social hub of a new £38m mixed-use project being spearheaded by developers Wilcon Homes / Chiltern Properties. A flexible 400-seat theatre space will be at the heart of the development, which will also house a 150-seat studio space and an art gallery. The scheme will also include 155 apartments, a Marks and Spencer Food store, a high street health and leisure provider, a bar / restaurant and a coffee bar. The arts centre, which alone is estimated at a build cost of £14m, will be located at Tally Ho Corner, a site provided by the London Borough of Barnet which is also part-financing the project with a £2.7m investment.
