Post: Associate Director IMG Artists

Length of service: Ten years

Email: kenticott@imgworld.com

What does your organisation do?
IMG Artists manages the careers of international conductors, instrumentalists and vocalists. We also arrange tours worldwide for a number of orchestras and dance companies.

What does your current job involve?
? The personal management of two conductors and five soloists
? Building and maintaining relationships with orchestras and promoters worldwide
? Investigating recording opportunities and negotiating record contracts
? Supervising all PR activities
? Overall responsibility for every aspect of every engagement my artists undertake

Who did you used to work for and what did you do?
Really Useful Group - I looked after music for theatre shows and arranged tours of ?The music of Andrew Lloyd Webber? in concert in the U.K. and the U.S. Intermusica Artists? Management - There were only three of us so I photocopied one day and acted as orchestra tour manager the next!

What do you enjoy most about your present post?
Making a real difference to an artist?s career. Feeling that without my involvement, things might not have developed in the same way.

What do you find most difficult in your present post?
Rejection? Promoters who refuse to engage an artist despite the fact I believe ? and tell them time and time again ? that they should!

What is your career ambition?
To keep doing a good job without neglecting my ?other? life as mother to two children.

Who has influenced your career to date the most ? and why?
Impossible to answer - I couldn?t single any one out.

If you could have done any job in the world, what would you like to have done?
Perform on stage in the West End.

If you have three wishes for the future of the arts, what would they be?
? For better music education in our schools
? For more funding for the arts in general
? For classical music to be more accessible to a mainstream audience.
