Trevor Lea-Cox, Chairman of the Arts Panel, WCIT (Worshipful Company of Information Technologists) lets us into his ?favourites? list

1. http://www.bbc.co.uk
Other sites may be helpful in providing a technical or business perspective, but the BBC site is unrivalled in providing valuable contextual information on almost any subject. It is also endlessly fascinating ? I?m often diverted by other subjects not directly related to the original search!

2. http://www.dti.org.uk
For me this is a good site for business information, especially in the area of intellectual capital and intangible value management. I often point my clients here, especially as it has good links to other useful sites such as Business Link.

3. http://www.lasa.org.uk
Great for smaller organisations that want to manage their computer systems more effectively. It?s a real ?soup to nuts? site, with wonderful common-sense explanations of often difficult concepts in good old-fashioned plain English.

4. http://www.makingthemodernworld.com
Another intriguing and well-used (by me) site, highlighting significant inventions that have shaped the science and technology of today. Also much used by sixth-form students, addressing, as it does, key parts of the A-level curriculum.

5. http://www.lso.co.uk
Useful for making concert bookings, but the best part is the LSO Live facility to download ringtones ? it really makes a statement when your mobile rings with the ?Star Wars? theme! Overall, the LSO site is an object lesson for other arts organisations.
