Oily Cart, the national touring theatre company from South London that works with children with profound and multiple learning difficulties, has been awarded the top prize in the Arts, Culture and Heritage category of the Charity Awards 2001.
The awards are the only national scheme in the UK to celebrate excellence in the management of charities. Oily Cart has been recognised for its work developing multi-sensory and participatory theatre productions in special schools? hydrotherapy pools. Members of the company work with the children through a wide range of sensory approaches involving live music, textures, aromas and a variety of manipulation and massage activities in water.
