ALEX SOBEL has been elected to the Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee.
The cross-party Culture, Media and Sport Committee scrutinises the work of the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and its associated public bodies, including the BBC, examining government policy, spending and administration.
Sobel is the Labour (Co-op) MP for Leeds North West and has been an MP continuously since June 2017.
He was Shadow Minister for the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for two years, until September 2023, and before that, he was Shadow Minister for Culture, Media and Sport.
Formerly, Sobel was Deputy Executive Member for Climate Change and Councillor for Moortown and Meanwood at Leeds City Council, where he led the city on climate change projects.
