Contemporary Arab culture festival Shubbak has appointed ALIA ALZOUGBI and TAGHRID CHOUCAIR-VIZOSO as joint CEOs.
The pair will replace ECKHARD THIEMANN, who has been CEO and Artistic Director of Shubbak since 2012.
Alzougbi is currently Head of Global Learning London, a Clore Fellow and Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. She was awarded the Writer’s Guild Olwen Wymark Award in 2019.
Choucair-Vizoso has been working with Shubbak since 2018 and has previously curated for AWAN Festival and Global Arab Female Voices. She is currently a mentor on the Scottish Refugee Council’s Crossing Borders Programme.
