Robert Leckie

ROBERT LECKIE will become Director of Gasworks in March 2024.

Current Director ALESSIO ANTONIOLLI steps down from the South London visual arts organisation after 25 years to join Triangle Network as Director.

Leckie is the current Director of Bristol-based contemporary arts centre Spike Island.

Before this, he was Curator and Head of Programmes at Gasworks until 2018.

Over the past decade, Leckie has curated artists' solo exhibitions, contributed to publications such as Afterall, Rhizome and Mousse and is a visiting lecturer at Royal College of Art, Goldsmiths and the University of the Arts in London.

Gasworks' Chair CATHERINE PETITGAS said Leckie brings "solid leadership skills" and "inspiring new artistic and strategic vision".

Leckie added: "Having started my career there over a decade ago, I know how precious the organisation and its community is.

"I look forward to working together with the staff team, Board and many partners to develop a new vision for the future: one that ensures Gasworks continues to be a vital hub for artistic and cultural exchange, with a caring and independent spirit."
