Sir SIMON RATTLE is leaving his post as London Symphony Orchestra’s Music Director to join Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in Munich as its new Chief Conductor. He will succeed MARISS JANSONS who passed away in December 2019.

Rattle’s initial agreement with LSO expires in 2022 but he has agreed to extend has stay for a further year, and will have led the orchestra for 8 years before taking up his new role in Germany. When his agreement comes to an end he will take up a lifetime role as Conductor Emeritus, following in the footsteps of ANDRÉ PREVIN
