TAMSIN ACE has been announced as the next chair of Shoreditch Town Hall.

She takes over from the chief executive of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, EMMA STENNING, who departs after three years in post.

Currently director of East Bank, the cultural and educational quarter at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Ace was previously head of cultural programming at the London College of Fashion and director of creative programmes and collections at Hoxton’s Museum of the Home.

She also spent 12 years at Southbank Centre, ending as head of public programming in 2019.

Ace said she is “delighted” to be chairing the Grade II-listed multi-artform venue in Hackney at an “exciting time” for the organisation.

“Shoreditch Town Hall is known for its programming, commitment to community, and bringing people together, whether through bold work, creative partnerships or its vibrant commercial activity.

“I look forward to working with the board and the exceptional team as the organisation continues to thrive in its unique role as an exciting cultural and historical space.”

JULIE FLAVELL, CEO at Shoreditch Town Hall, said Ace brings “a wealth of experience” from her leadership roles in artistic venues as well as “valuable local connections and insight from major organisations” in her current role.

She added: “We’d also like to sincerely thank Emma for her brilliant leadership over the past three years — expertly guiding Shoreditch Town Hall through a financial re-gear, strengthening our resilience, and always offering positivity and encouragement.”
