Suella Braverman has appointed two new members to the Reviewing Committee on the Export of Works of Art and Objects of Cultural Interest (RCEWA).

RCEWA advises the Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) on whether cultural objects that people wish to export are national treasures so that ministers can take steps, if necessary, to allow UK buyers more time to raise the money to purchase them.

Dr HELEN JACOBSEN and Dr CAROLINE SHENTON joined RCEWA on 1 September, beginning four-year terms.

Jacobsen is the Executive Director of the Attingham Trust, a charity that organises study programmes for professionals in the heritage sector. Before this, she worked at the Wallace Collection as Senior Curator of 18th-century Decorative Arts.

Currently Secretary to Council at Girton College, Cambridge, Shenton has an extensive background as an archivist and historian. Previously, she was the Director of the Parliamentary Archives and a senior archivist at the UK National Archives.

They join the committee alongside CHRISTOPHER BAKER and STUART LOCHEAD, who have been reappointed for four-year terms.
