Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru, the Welsh language touring theatre company, has launched its first national tour, Meic Povey?s Yn Debyg Iawn i Ti a Fi (Very Much Like You or Me), directed by the company?s Artistic Director, Cefin Roberts. Performed entirely in Welsh, the inaugural production of the new company (pictured) is a new play about family loyalty tested by bereavement and schizophrenia.

Peter Tyndall, Chief Executive of The Arts Council of Wales (ACW), said at the gala performance, ?It has been an ambition of ACW to establish a Welsh National Theatre? it is a privilege to be here to witness the rebirth of Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru.? Based in Llanelli, the company?s annual output will include three touring productions and a programme of events at the National Eisteddfod of Wales. The current tour is supported by workshops in secondary schools, and sessions for learners of Welsh.
