Letters – A concerted effort – From Louisa Davison, Marketing Manager, The Corn Exchange and New Greenham Arts
ArtsProfessional issue 57, September 8 highlights the need for the music community to find a solution to the ?problem? of people enjoying recorded music and not attending live concerts.
I hear about this problem all the time in popular music: the money the industry is losing because of illegal Internet downloads, the difficulties new bands have in attracting fans and the impact on record sales. Surely with the financial backing and commercial acumen in pop music and the commitment to audience development of the classical music industry, these issues could be addressed.
P.S. Re: British Orchestras ? ?7.30pm performances in penguin suits? ? why not stop wearing penguin suits? (all the pictures used show orchestras in evening dress).
