A virtual art gallery which enables employees to view works of art on their PCs and purchase them through an online gallery agent has been successfully piloted by Experian in the East Midlands.

Financial backing from Arts Council England (ACE) and Arts & Business supported a six month pilot, during which three editions of the virtual gallery of work by East Midlands artists have been available on the company?s intranet. Each edition has showcased 50 artworks by ten artists of a specific medium. The site is accessible by over 3,000 company employees who have also purchased work, attended private views and viewed a number of the works in one of the company?s restaurant areas. Laura Dyer, Executive Director of ACE East Midlands, said ?We are in discussions to introduce the package on the Arts Council England intranet and hope that this innovative concept will be rolled out to other regions. Not only has it great potential to increase audience experience in viewing ? and ultimately purchasing ? it also has been well received by artists.?
