Meeting The Moment

A one day event for the culture sector on speaking up in troubled times. The emphasis of the day will be on sharing, nourishing and empowering each other.

What will the programme include?

The format will be a mix of talks and discussion, with an opportunity for the audience to suggest their own sessions in the afternoon. There will be a vegan sharing lunch provided for everyone, a quiet space for time out and a Public Living Room created by Camerados where attendees and the public can connect.

Our first speakers are listed below, with more coming soon:

  • The day will be hosted by Martha Awojobi founder, director and fearless leader of JMB Consulting.
  • Ella Saltmarshe writer and director of The Culture Initiative will speak on context of time in the moment we are facing
  • Cultural worker, facilitator and artist Jemma Desai will lead a workshop around being prepared not to be perfect and the fears we face in speaking out
  • Rhiannon White co-founder of Common Wealth will talk about why all art is political
  • Maff Potts director of Camerados the Public Living Room movement
  • Novelist and screenwriter Nikesh Shukla chairs a panel with Ned Suesat-Williams, co-director of The Crab Museum and climate activist and theatre Producer, Chloe Naldrett on demanding change
  • Watershed Case study: Clare Reddington (CEO), Kate Arthurs (Trustee) and Claire Stewart (Head of Comms) on managing risk, the role of the board, looking after people and planning your comms campaign.
  • Community Resolve founder Hen Wilkinson on analysing and understanding conflict
  • Matt Golding founder of Antidote on how to tell positive stories
  • The day will end with a moment of togetherness from Queer Performance company Fatt Projects
