Dr Anne Schiffer is a designer, author, and senior academic. Her research uses human-centred design to examine the lived experiences of resource scarcity, including energy, mobility, and water, with a particular focus on energy transitions in the Global South. She is interested in how design thinking can facilitate equitable futures through improved policies and increased capacity of civil society actors including in relation to gender justice. Previously, she led the Scottish part of Community Power, a European-funded project that aimed to improve policy and legislation to speed up the development of community-owned renewable energy.
