Arts Council of Wales will be at the heart of Welsh Labour plans for culture

Welsh Labour is showing continuing support for the Arts Council of Wales (ACW) in its manifesto for Government, requiring ACW to continue in its strategic developmental and support role for arts organisations in Wales. Making a commitment to backing companies and individual artists across all art forms, it has charged ACW with implementing policies for improving access and reducing the barriers to engagement with the arts; making arts for young people a “central plank of its future Action Plan” in a Compact with the Department of Children, Education, Lifelong learning & Skills; and reviewing the provision of Theatre in Education in Wales. ACW has for some while been developing plans along these lines and new initiatives will be announced later in the year.
