‘Insane in the Brain’. Partially naked man surrounded by five dancers

Transport for London has reversed its decision to ban a poster for a forthcoming Sadler’s Wells show. The poster for ‘Insane in the Brain’ (pictured), a street dance version of the novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest which opens next week, was initially rejected on the grounds of nudity, mirroring the internationally reported recent ban of the Royal Academy’s poster depicting a 16th century image of Venus by Cranach.

The Insane in the Brain poster was also found guilty of breaching current guidelines by using a graffiti style typeface. Despite the change of heart by Transport for London, Sadler’s Wells is going ahead with its plans for the poster to be displayed in full-length on the sides of public telephone boxes instead.
