Plans for a ‘Cathedral of Stories’ in Oxford have been approved by the city’s planning committee. The Museum of Stories will transform three existing buildings around a courtyard in a £11.5m scheme celebrating storytelling in all its forms. The complex will include exhibition and performance spaces, learning and creative play areas, a ‘fantasy library’, café and shop. The Story Museum is one of twelve museums in the UK selected to be part of the Happy Museum project, which aims to put wellbeing and sustainability at the heart of its development, and has been test driving these concepts with programmers, artists, architects, visitors and staff throughout the design process.
