The Government may move on compensation for redundant radio mic technology (AP207). Stephen Timms of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills has written to Save Our Sound UK (SOS UK) saying that it is giving the issue “careful consideration, in consultation with Ofcom”. SOS UK, which wants compensation of “a shade under £75m” for users of the 15 radio bands that are due to be sold off by the Government, is calling on all those affected to ask their MPs to sign Early Day Motion 323. The motion, tabled by Peter Luff, Tory MP for Mid Worcestershire, calls for the prevention of “serious damage to… the UK’s creative industries at a small fraction of the revenues that the…auctions are likely to generate”.
