Three Scottish communities are sharing a £300,000 award from Creative Scotland in recognition of their being named the country’s most creative places. As part of the Year of Creative Scotland 2012, the Creative Place awards have gone to Wigtown, West Kilbride and St Andrews in the categories for places with fewer than 2,500, 10,000 and 100,000 residents respectively. In addition, runners-up Huntly and Creetown will each receive special awards of £40,000 for community engagement and the creative use of artists. Huntly has re-branded the town through the use of arts, with many of its projects led by top international artists.
