The award ceremony will be hosted in Scotland for the first time in 2015.

Glasgow’s Tramway will host the Turner Prize in 2015, after beating bids from Nottingham Contemporary, New Art Gallery in Walsall and Whitworth Art Gallery, Manchester.  The successful submission was put together by a partnership comprising Glasgow Life, Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, Creative Scotland and EventScotland.  Tramway, established in 1990, is an international contemporary arts centre housed in the city’s old tram depot.  The prize has been hosted outside of London in alternate years since 2011 and this year will be in Derry-Londonderry, as the city celebrates its UK Capital of Culture status.  The Turner Prize is awarded to a British artist under fifty for an outstanding exhibition in the twelve months preceding the shortlist announcement in spring each year. Previous winners include Anthony Gormley, Damien Hirst and Grayson Perry.
