A survey aiming to find out how the governance of arts organisations and museums can be strengthened has been launched as part of an Independent Strategic Review of Governance commissioned by the Clore Leadership Programme, together with a consortium of five Trusts and Foundations working in the cultural sector. The Review aims to identify the key governance development needs in the sector and the research is seeking views and perspectives from a cross section of cultural organisations.

The survey is looking at the effectiveness of Boards, exploring the main focus for their work and asking directors and trustees whether they feel their Board achieves the right balance between reviewing past performance, discussions about current artistic and business issues, and looking to the future. It also looks at the conduct and content of Board meetings and seeks opinions on the most essential skills and qualities of effective trustees and Chairs.

The research is being led by Co-Creatives Consulting Ltd, and the questionnaire is online until Friday 4 November.
