A grooved big rock on the grass in jubilee park

Canary Wharf in London has won Christie’s Award for the Best Corporate Art Collections and Programmes at the 2010 International Art & Work Awards. The prize recognises the work of Canary Wharf Group plc (CWG), which develops, owns and manages Canary Wharf Estate. It is the largest urban regeneration project in Europe and includes a public art collection and programme that began in the 1990s. The judges praised CWG’s “sophisticated approach to integrating art into the landscape and the buildings” in the complex, which is home to nearly 100,000 workers. The 97-acre estate includes 20 acres of parks, plazas and walkways, displaying more than 60 permanent works of art. The exhibition programme also extends to the shopping mall, where the local community, including children and up-and-coming artists and designers, have the opportunity to display their art.
