The Culture and Sport Planning Toolkit (CSPT) has been launched to enable local authorities, planners and developers to create suitable infrastructure in areas of growth and regeneration. The Toolkit, which is only available online, has been built by the Town and Country Planning Association and is published by Living Places, a partnership of five agencies: Arts Council England (ACE), the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA), English Heritage, Sport England, and the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment. Lorna Brown, Chair of nalgao, the local government arts officers’ organisation, said that the CSPT “offers a helpful element of the national Cultural Improvement Strategy”. MLA Chief Executive, Roy Clare, said that “for too long, culture, sport and planning have spoken different languages. This toolkit is an online translator to break down historic barriers.” Living Places is also planning a series of nine regional seminars to disseminate the CSPT to invited audiences of planners and cultural professionals.
