The Royal National College for the Blind has given a permanent home to the national collection of Blind Art. This is the world’s first permanent showcase of fully accessible visual art and will be open to the public free of charge. The collection includes more than 30 paintings, sculptures, installations and other works of art that appeal to a multitude of senses, and visitors are encouraged to explore and interpret the works through touch, sound and smell, as well as sight. The gallery hopes that the exhibition will help schools and other visiting groups to understand the value of accessible art during special educational sessions.
