Theatre director’s award application rejected because of her gender

Organisers of the Kenneth Branagh New Writing Award at Windsor Fringe Festival have apologised for their “unacceptable and hurtful” comments after turning down Olorunfemi Fagunwa’s application to direct a play because “a male director would be better for this play”.
