The Scottish Government has awarded a cash injection to Edinburgh’s festivals to support their safe return this summer.

£1m has been distributed between Edinburgh International Festival and nine Edinburgh Fringe producers.

The funding will be put towards outdoor performance spaces and mitigating additional costs faced by producers due to the pandemic.

Culture Secretary Angus Robertson said he is “determined to do everything within [his] power” to support the return of the festivals.

Artistic Director Katy Koren added: “After a fallow year for the Edinburgh Festivals in 2020, we are determined to bring safe events and performances back to the city centre this August."
