Salford Council holds back £1m for BBC Philharmonic sponsorship

Payments from Salford City Council to the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra will be reduced over the next year, as part of local cuts worth £25m. In 2007 the city agreed to pay £20m over eight years, but this year’s £1m will be held back to help pay for other services.
