Pulp has become the first band to pledge support for the LIVE Trust, with £1 from every ticket sold at its UK arena tour this year going to a new support fund for people working in grassroots music.

The LIVE Trust, which launched last month, will be tasked with distributing funds raised from a proposed voluntary levy on stadiums and arenas, which the government has said it wants established “as soon as possible” this year.

It will provide funding to artists, venue operators, promoters, festival organisers and others. While larger music venues are yet to sign up to the scheme, NME reports that Pulp, which will play six dates across the UK and Ireland in June, has signed up to the initiative.

“As the first UK band to endorse our mission, Pulp is championing the future of UK live music by backing a £1 ticket addition that directly supports grassroots venues, festivals, and emerging talent across the UK,” a social media announcement by LIVE Trust said.

“Their commitment shows that live music is about passion, community, and a sustainable future.”
